Year of establishment- 1960
History of the Department– the department of political science was established in 1960. Principal V.V. Deshmukh and others served in the department. Political science has been taught as a special subject at the undergraduate level since 1960. The faculty in the Departmental of Political Science engaged in teaching, research, and extension activities.

Course Taught
Savitribai Phule Pune University has adopted Choice based credit system for the undergraduate courses for the academic year 2019-2020. Students have to appear for two semesters in an academic year. University also introduced a Skill Enhancement Course for Special Subjects.

PROGRAM OUTCOME
After completing B. A Programme in Political Science, students will be able to

Constitution Day (संविधान दिन)
दिनांक २६ नोव्हेंबर २०२० रोजी सकाळी ८.५० ते १०.२० या वेळेत राज्यशास्त्र विभागाच्या वतीने संविधान दिन साजरा करण्यात आला. धनश्री क्षिरसागर, पल्लवी शिर्के, पूजा दोडमनी व मयुरी कामथे या विद्यार्थिनी भारतीय राज्यघटनेबाबत आपले विचार व्यक्त केले.
National Voters’ Day (राष्ट्रीय मतदार दिन)
दिनांक २५ जानेवारी २०२१ रोजी राष्ट्रीय मतदार दिनानिमित्त सकाळी ९.४० वा बलशाही लोकशाही करता निवडणूक साक्षरता या विषयावरती वैशाली पवार यांचे ऑनलाइन व्याख्यान झाले. या व्याख्यानाला श्री शाहू मंदिर महाविद्यालय यातील राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजनेचे विद्यार्थी तसेच राज्यशास्त्र विभागाचे विद्यार्थी उपस्थित होते.

राष्ट्रीय मतदार दिन (२५ जानेवारी) निमित्त सहसंचालक कार्यालय, उच्च शिक्षण, पुणे विभाग, पुणे व अखिल भारतीय मराठा शिक्षण परिषदेचे श्री शाहू मंदिर महाविद्यालय पर्वती पुणे 9 यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने दिनांक २४.१.२०२२ रोजी स. ८. ५० वा. ऑनलाइन वक्तृत्व स्पर्धा घेण्यात आली. या स्पर्धेमध्ये गायत्री दळवी, ऋतुजा नवले, समता बनसोडे, मुस्कान तसीर, आकाश इंगळे, पल्लवी नामवाढ, सिद्धी कुरकुटे, हर्षदा डुमणे व अजित खटाडे या ०९ विद्यार्थ्यांनी सहभाग घेतला. या स्पर्धेसाठी डॉ. दीपक गायकवाड डॉ. जयसिंग बाबर यांनी परीक्षक म्हणून कार्य केले. या वक्तृत्व स्पर्धेचे समन्वयक म्हणून वैशाली पवार यांनी कार्य केले.
